Press Release – Open champions Clarke, Hamilton and U.S. Open champion Janzen commit to Sanford International

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – PGA TOUR Champions golfers Darren Clarke, Lee Janzen, and Todd Hamilton, have officially committed to playing in the inaugural Sanford International Presented by Cambria.

Clarke is another notable PGA TOUR Champions rookie this year. The Northern, Ireland native is a 3-time winner on the PGA TOUR, including his win at the 2011 The Open Championship. Clarke is a 6-time Ryder Cup team member, including his impressive position as the 2016 Ryder Cup team captain. Clarke also has an additional 15 International Victories, including the 2011 Open Championship.

Hamilton, resident of Westlake, Texas, was the winner of the 2004 The Honda Classic and The Open Championship. If Hamilton had a choice, his First-Tee introduction song would be the OU school song, “Boomer Sooner” as he is a big Oklahoma Sooner football fan. Hamilton also has 14 additional International Victories.

Janzen, a native of Austin, Minnesota, has 8 career PGA TOUR victories. Janzen is a 2-time winner of the U.S. Open Championship. In Janzen’s youth, he began to take golf seriously at age 14 after family moved to Florida from Maryland, where he played Little League baseball. He is still an avid Baltimore Orioles fan. Janzen was a member on The President’s Cup in 1998 and the Ryder Cup in 1993 and 1997. Janzen is also a two-time winner of the U.S. Open in 1993 and 1998.

The Sanford International Presented by Cambria, the first ever PGA TOUR Champions event to be contested in South Dakota, will be played at Minnehaha Country Club the week of September 17-23, and will feature a $1.8 million purse.
