Sam Matheson

Sanford International is honored to announce Sam Matheson of Sioux Falls as the 2022 Sanford Children’s Hospital Ambassador. Sam started showing signs of illness near his 12th birthday as he began to lack energy while playing. On August 10, 2018, he was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma. The cancerous tumor was in his nasal cavity and left jaw. Today, Sam, 15, is cancer-free and continues to gain strength from his physical therapy treatments with PT Dan at the Sanford Fieldhouse.

His story is similar to so many children’s – a cancer diagnosis far too early in life. With your support, the Sanford International is making a lasting impact in the lives of children just like Sam. Whether its partnering with the tournament, volunteering, purchasing a ticket, or donating to Birdies Give Back program, you are helping raise money for Sanford Children’s Hospital, Sanford World Clinic, and other local children’s charities.
