Stephanie Herseth Sandlin announced as keynote speaker for Women’s Day at Sanford International
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana University President Stephanie Herseth Sandlin will be the keynote speaker at Women’s Day on Tuesday, Sept. 10, during the 2024 Sanford International. Herseth Sandlin will bring a fresh perspective on women in leadership as well as updates from Augustana University and her role as a member of the Sanford Health Board of Trustees.
EMC is the presenting sponsor of the day with Deffenbaugh Homes sponsoring a happy hour and putting contest. R Wine Bar is providing the wine and dessert pairing.

Herseth Sandlin was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2004, where she went on to serve four terms. She was the first woman elected to the U.S. House from South Dakota and the youngest woman serving in Congress during that time. Following her time in Congress, Herseth Sandlin became a partner in a Washington, D.C., law firm and later joined Raven Industries in Sioux Falls, as the company’s first general counsel and vice president of corporate development.
She has served as president of Augustana University since 2017. She is the first woman to lead the university since it was established 164 years ago. As a result of her leadership, the university developed and is implementing its transformational Viking Bold: The Journey to 2030 strategic plan — supported by the largest and most comprehensive campaign in Augustana’s history.

The impact she has made on the state of South Dakota and Sioux Falls community deserves to be celebrated and we are glad to be able to do so at the Sanford International,” said Tenny Snyder, assistant tournament director of the Sanford International. “The goal of our Women’s Day is to celebrate the women of our community and create a space to foster connections and build camaraderie. We can’t think of a better person to help us do that than Stephanie.”
Tickets to the Sanford International are now on sale. Patrons may purchase tickets at sanfordinternational.com. There are a number of ticket options available including PREMIER Club badges, daily grounds passes, weekend grounds passes and packages that include food and merchandise.
The Sanford International is the reigning recipient of the PGA TOUR Champion’s Fan First Award. The honor is presented to the PGA TOUR Champions event that goes above and beyond to create an elevated experience for every type of fan. All 28 PGA TOUR Champions events are eligible for the award.
