on sponsor’s exemption
Sioux Falls golfer continues to compete in PGA TOUR Champions
qualifying tournaments
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Sanford International has awarded its first sponsor’s exemption for the 2024 tournament to Sioux Falls golfer Ryan Jansa. Jansa competed in the 2023 Sanford International, where he finished T-55 with a score of even par for the tournament.
In his first season of eligibility on the PGA TOUR Champions, Jansa also qualified for the PURE Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
“We are very excited to welcome Ryan back to the Sanford International for a second time,” said Davis Trosin, tournament director of the Sanford International. “With consistently one of the biggest galleries following him, Ryan’s presence was felt throughout the week of the tournament, and we were so happy for him and proud of the way he competed against the best players on the PGA TOUR Champions.”
Jansa is a seven-time South Dakota Golf Association Male Golfer of the Year. He has won 33 SDGA tournaments throughout his career including eight SDGA Amateur Championships and nine SDGA Husband/Wife Championships. The New Mexico State graduate was the Big West Conference Individual Champion in 1995 and a first-team all-conference selection in 1996.
“It will be another thrill to tee it up in front of an amazing, encouraging hometown crowd this September,” said Jansa. “I want to thank Sanford Health, Davis and everyone at the Sanford International for believing in me and making this possible. I am working hard on my game and can’t wait to see everyone again this fall.”
A sponsor’s exemption on the PGA TOUR Champions is when the title sponsor invites a non-exempt player to the event to bypass local qualifying.
