2020 Sanford International raises over $270,000 for charities and local organizations
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Sanford International Presented by Cambria raised over $270,000 for local charities and organizations this year. Generating nearly double then what was raised in 2018 and 2019 – despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Since 2018, the tournament has given back more than $500,000 in charitable contributions and has had an annual economic impact of over $20,000,000 for the Sioux Falls area.
“This year created many unforeseen obstacles. However, the community of Sioux Falls and tournament did not lose sight of the end objective, which is raising funds for charities and local organizations annually.” said Josh Brewster, tournament director of the Sanford International. “We are so thankful for all our partners, volunteers and spectators support these past three years. The tournament will continue to push the ropes and create a one-of-a-kind tournament.”
The designated beneficiaries of the 2020 Sanford International are:
- Sanford Health Foundation, benefitting the Ronald McDonald House, Boys and Girls Club, and Sioux Falls Hope Coalition.
- Sioux Falls Sports Authority, benefitting GreatLIFE Cares Foundation, First Tee, and South Dakota Special Olympics.
“Children and their families are directly impacted by these funds and look forward to supporting more in the coming years.” said Micah Aberson, Executive Vice President at Sanford Health. “In its fourth year, the tournament will continue to evolve and bring our community back together again.”
Sanford International was the first tournament to take place with full capacity in the world. With the guidance from experts at Sanford Health and local affiliates, the tournament was held safely and responsibly. The tournament will carry on this tradition in 2021 & 2022.
The Sanford International returns to Minnehaha Country Club Sept. 13-19, 2021.
